Protecting Ireland against the Delta variant of COVID-19

Ireland is now faced with a fourth wave of COVID-19 infection.

The World Health Organisation has reported that the decline in Covid-19 cases across Europe has stalled. The Delta variant is now spreading rapidly around the world. It is vital that we safeguard the progress we have made.

We are in a race against the Delta variant.

Four million doses of vaccine have now been administered: hundreds of thousands more are delivered every week. This will have an enormous impact on our level of protection in the coming months.

The vaccination programme is being accelerated though the age groups.

The vaccines are safe and highly effective. When your chance comes, take your vaccine. It’s for all of us.

  • There will be no restriction on private visits for people who are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 infection in the previous 9 months.
  • Persons who are not fully vaccinated may have visitors to their homes from one other household.
  • Everyone should continue to work from home unless absolutely necessary to attend in person.

Government will continue to review and monitor the virus and follow public health advice in support of a safe and gradual reopening.

The Economic Recovery Plan is supporting our recovery, and helping people get back to work.
