Gardaí want to speak to passengers of Friday's route 25 Nitelink

Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of Dean Johnson in Clondalkin believe the Dublin Bus may have passed the scene.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING THE murder of Dean Johnson wish to speak to passengers travelling on the 25 Nitelink from Dublin’s city centre to Lucan in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Dublin Bus left Westmoreland Street at about midnight Friday and is believed to have passed the scene of the shooting at Harelawn Green in Clondalkin at about 12.20am.

Gardaí are particularly interested in reaching passengers who continued to the end of the route – past Liffey Valley. At the time of the shooting, the bus was travelling along Neilstown Road.

The victim, 21-year-old Dean Johnson, was shot multiple times and brought to Tallaght Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Gardaí continue to probe for a motive.

Three men were seen running from a black Vauxhall Vectra car, which was later discovered on fire on Collinstown Crescent, also in Clondalkin. It is understood the vehicle was used in the murder.

Anyone with information or who can assist with the investigation should contact the incident room at Ronanstown Garda Station on 01-666-7776 or the Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
