POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are investigating an aggravated burglary which left an elderly man in hospital last night.
According to the PSNI, two men armed with a knife broke into a house on Aughnacloy Road in Banbridge at about 9pm. They pushed the male occupant, who was in his 80s, to the ground and tied him up. They escaped with a sum of cash.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspects are described as being in their 40s and well-built.
Detectives are appealing for information, asking anyone who may have seen somebody acting suspicious in the area to contact them. They are also looking for information about any possible suspicious vehicles that were on either the Aughnacloy Road, Lower Castlevennon Road or Castlevennon Road.
