A 19-YEAR-OLD MAN died and five other people travelling in the same car were injured in a crash in Galway in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí said the crash happened on the Inagh Road in Connemara at around 2am when the car, which was the only vehicle involved, left the road. It is understood that the car overturned and the passengers were trapped for a period of time.

The victim was a passenger in the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Galway.

The other five people in the car were also brought to the hospital where their injuries are described as not life-threatening.

The road is currently closed to allow investigators to carry out a forensic examination of the scene.

Gardaí in Clifden have appealed for any witnesses to contact them on 095 22500 or on the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111.
