'There was a lot of damage': Five fire units battle blaze at landmark East Wall pub

The fire has now been extinguished.

DUBLIN FIRE BRIGADE attended a fire on the rooftop of a building in East Wall, north Dublin last night.

The popular Seabank House pub on East Wall Road went up in flames in the early hours of the morning. 

The first 999 call was made at 12.40am. The fire has now been put out. 

Five units were called to a the scene of the fire. A turntable ladder and a water tower were used.  

Fire engines from North Strand, Tara Street and Donnybrook attended.

Gardaí said a small number of people were leaving the premises at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing.

Commenting on the blaze, Dublin Lord Mayor and local councillor Nial Ring said that it was “very popular pub in East Wall” and that there was a lot of damage to the building as result of the fire. 

“I was just talking to the fire guys this morning and they were down within minutes of the fire,” he said.

He thanked Dublin Fire Brigade for responding “quickly and efficiently” and said it was lucky that no one was hurt in the incident.
