"This tool is both practical and useful for homebuyers": Discover Daft's new Local Areas Feature sponsored by Glenveagh

Glenveagh and Daft have teamed up to make finding your dream home easier.

THERE IS SO much to consider when house-hunting.

Semi-detached or terraced? Beside the seaside or inland? Quiet countryside or bustling city? It can be quite challenging trying to narrow down different properties you view on your hunt for your dream home.

Thankfully, a new partnership between Glenveagh and Daft.ie will make finding your new home a little bit easier with the help of a new Local Areas Feature.

Local Areas Feature

Recently launched on Daft.ie, the Local Areas Feature, sponsored by Glenveagh, is a free-to-use tool on Ireland’s number one property site. This tool shows users the 10 closest schools (primary & secondary) and the best public transport links to the property they are currently viewing on Daft.ie.

For insight into how to use the tool, we spoke to Ollie Smith, Product Manager of Data Products on Daft.ie.

Using the Local Areas Feature on Daft.ie is really simple,” Ollie said.

“When you look at any home for sale or rent on Daft.ie and scroll down the page you will see a new heading ‘Local Area’. Under Local Area you will find three headings; ‘Primary Schools’, ‘Secondary Schools’ and ‘Public Transport’. Under both the ‘Primary Schools’ and ‘Secondary Schools’ tabs, you will see a list of schools in order of proximity to the property you’re looking at, along with their distances from the property and how many pupils attend each school.

“Under the ‘Public Transport heading, you will see the type of public transport (bus, train etc.) along with their distances from the property, the stop, route, destination and the public transport provider. It really is very simple and we would encourage people to check it out for themselves,” Ollie added.

It was designed by Daft.ie with ease of use and community in mind, which is a key aspect of Glenveagh’s work as one of Ireland’s leading community builders. Showing users the location of nearby schools and transport links gives them key context for the location of a property.

“We take pride in building not just homes but communities around Ireland,” said Martin Clancy, Marketing Manager from Glenveagh Homes.

The Local Areas Feature is a great example of how community is at the heart of where you live. From proximity to primary and secondary schools to public transport, the tool is extremely useful for homebuyers.”

For Daft.ie, the idea for the Local Areas Feature came from consulting those in the midst of a house-hunting journey. These users said that knowing more about the local area is vital when making such a big decision such as choosing where to live. Daft aims to make home buying, selling and renting better in Ireland, and the feedback from their users helps them to do just that.

We thought a lot about how to address this need and so we started with schools and commuting data as a first step again based on feedback from our customers who highlighted that knowing what schools are available and what the local public transport is like is super important to families and commuters alike,” said Laura Barry, Daft.ie Marketing Manager.

“It needed to be something users wanted,” Martin agreed.

We wanted to work with Daft.ie to provide something really useful to those searching for a home. Building communities is at the heart of Glenveagh and this feature is both practical and useful for homebuyers, which were key considerations when choosing to work with Daft.ie on the development of it,” Martin added.

Both Glenveagh and Daft.ie are aware that finding a home can be stressful and that house hunters are always on the lookout for things that make it easier. The Local Areas Feature means that users can have the information they need right in front of them throughout the process, saving a lot of time and effort.

Daft.ie have been involved in the buying and selling of homes in Ireland for a number of years and the partnership with Glenveagh came about from a shared mission and brand promise, according to Laura.

“Glenveagh’s vision is to foster flourishing communities by enriching the lives of its residents and the environment that surrounds them through a number of locally-backed initiatives. This vision is closely aligned to why we have developed the Local Areas Feature on Daft.ie, so this partnership makes sense and is a great fit. Glenveagh are a trustworthy partner and we are delighted to be partnering with them on the Local Area tool aligned on fostering communities and providing great experiences for buyers in Ireland,” she added.

We hope that this new tool aligned to our mission makes buying or renting a home better in Ireland. We want people to have great experiences on Daft.ie and so we will continue to listen to our users in order to implement and enhance our features and offerings to improve their home buying and renting experiences. If buyers and renters in Ireland find this tool helpful in their property search, that’s a win for us.”
