WHEN A NATIVE of your town becomes a massive star, both in Ireland and the UK, it can be difficult to come up with a fitting way to honour them.
Statues are ok, but an entire stretch of walkway beside the river? That’s better. The town of Bandon today welcomed talk show host Graham Norton home to officially open the Graham Norton Walkway.
Bandon Town Council approved a proposal to name the picturesque riverside walkway the Graham Norton River Walkway in honour of Norton.
The walkway and garden forms part of an overall regeneration of the area and organisers hope it will boost tourism to the area.
Deirdre Lane, Bandon Town Mayor said that the town is proud of Norton.
“It is a great honour to welcome home Graham Norton as part of the Rebel Week Gathering 2013 Celebrations. Bandon is truly proud of Graham Norton and his achievements to date.”
