Man arrested over armed raid at petrol station

The incident took place shortly after midnight on Saturday night at the Emo service station in Mountrath in Laois.

A MAN IS due before court this morning charged in relation to an incident where a gun was fired.

The incident took place shortly after midnight on Saturday night at the Emo service station in Mountrath in Laois.

A man entered the shop with a balaclava and demanded cash. He managed to crash the car he arrived in outside a house close to the filling station.

The firearm and cash were later recovered and the man was arrested.

A 31-year-old man is expected to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin this morning charged in connection with the investigation.

Investigations are continuing.
