Yes, Hillary Clinton is running for US president

She has announced her candidacy.

Updated 7am

HILLARY CLINTON’S TWITTER account must have been one of the most-watched on the social networking site all day yesterday.

She was expected to officially announce her candidacy on Twitter that afternoon, followed by a video and then an email announcement.

It took its time, but we now know that she’s definitely running for president:

While it was thought she would make the announcement at 12 noon, US journalists began reporting that it was put on hold for a number of hours:

B the evening, other reporters were saying that an email from John Podesta to donors confirmed that Clinton was in:

Then John Podesta announced he is now Chairman of Hillary for America:

Her presidential campaign was long-awaited, with much speculation about the former Secretary of State, and wife of former President Bill Clinton, running again.

But she hadn’t officially said anything until yesterday.

Here’s one other woman who was very happy with the news:

This is her second presidential bid, with the hope that she would succeed President Barack Obama as the nominee of the Democratic Party.

It’s expected that she will visit key early voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire today.

Some of her supporters are already stocked up on ‘Ready for Hillary’ items, even down to the dog bowl:

However, the super pac that has been promoting her around the US will wind down its operations when she announces her campaign.

‘Liberty not Hillary’

Meanwhile, Rand Paul – the Republican Senator who announced his candidacy last week – has launched a ‘Liberty not Hillary’ campaign on the eve of Clinton’s announcement.

A video on his site says that Clinton “represents the worst of the Washington Machine, the arrogance of power, corruption and power, conflicts of interest and failed leadership with tragic consequences”.
