'Prostitutes over patriots': This is the most savage political attack ad you will ever see

No qualms.

JohnBelForLouisiana / YouTube

THAT’S NOT A political attack ad, THIS is a political attack ad.

In what must rank as one of the most egregious examples of negative campaigning you’ll ever see, Democrat John Bel Edwards has accused Republican rival David Vitter of choosing ‘prostitutes over patriots’.

The two men face off in a tight run-off election for the governorship of Louisiana in a fortnight’s time and, if this is anything to go by, it’s getting dirty.

The ad, complete with eerie evil music, is called ‘The Choice’ and in it Vitter is accused ducking out of a vote about veterans to take a call from a prostitute.

The ad is a reference to a 2007 scandal involving Vitter in which his phone number was on a list of released by ‘D.C. Madam’, who ran a prostitution service. Vitter admitted to his ‘sin’ and sought forgiveness.

He largely was forgiven by his party, hence the gubernatorial run.

It seems though that his rival doesn’t want voters forgetting about it.
