THERE WAS A mix up last week for some smokers of the John Player brand of cigarettes.

Around 500 customers found that instead of the cigarettes they were expecting, they got a different brand called News.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie, a spokesperson from Imperial Tobacco, John Player’s parent company, said that this had occurred due to a mix up on a production line.

Any customers experiencing any difficulty with this were asked to consult the customer care number on the side of the box to resolve any issues they were experiencing, the spokesperson said.

Around five hundred packets of  cigarettes contained the incorrect brand.

The News brand of cigarettes is also produced by Imperial Tobacco although is not ordinarily sold in Ireland.
