VIDEO FOOTAGE BY CNN appears to show a Baltimore protester being snatched by police into a humvee-style truck.
The footage, shown live on TV just past 11pm, shows Joseph Kent waving his hands in the air in front of riot police.
The truck approaches and blocks the media’s view, as Kent is grabbed in to the vehicle. #whereisjosephkent began trending as people asked what had happened the protester.
The disappearance of the protester caused an outcry on social media.
The Guardian exclusively reveals the peaceful protester’s whereabouts, reporting that Kent is in a large bullpen with other inmates of Baltimore central booking, a jail 10 minutes from the city hall.
It states that he has been charged with breaching the 10pm curfew imposed by authorities following the widespread riots that have taken part in the city.
The Guardian reports that authorities want the public to know he is “well and safe”.
