This Labour TD wishes he didn't have to talk about being gay

John Lyons speaks to TheJournal.ie about next year’s same-sex marriage referendum.

JOHN LYONS HAS said that he wishes he didn’t have to talk openly about his sexuality in order to advance issues he feels strongly about.

The Labour TD is one of three openly gay deputies who has been outspoken on LGBT and equality issues and is likely to be a prominent face in next year’s referendum on same-sex marriage.

In an interview with TheJournal.ie recently, we asked Lyons whether he believed there were other Oireachtas members who are gay and whether it would be beneficial if they came out publicly:
