IT WAS A great start to the week for two lotto winners who collected their prizes today.
The winners of a Lotto Match 5 plus bonus prize worth €164,650 were a Wicklow family. The lucky ticket was bought by the winning husband in the Dunnes Stores in Mountkennedy Town Centre. Over a glass of champagne, his wife spoke of how the family had been struggling financially:
“God bless Lotto! It’s hard to believe the difference this win will make. We only had €40 left to make ends meet for the week – and then we win over €164,000! It’s so hard to believe.”
They will clear the arrears on their mortgage with the money and put the rest away for “the rainy day fund”.
“And we’ll have lots of fun planning a family holiday for July, when school’s out”, said the winner.
The celebrations continued this afternoon as a Dublin man bounced into National Lottery offices to collect his fantastic EuroMillions Match 5 prize of €382,842, from Friday 8 January.
“I am currently juggling a full time job with part time studies, and have a number of exams in January. I was attempting to revise last Friday when the EuroMillions draw popped into my mind. Of course I immediately scrapped my revision and bought my ticket online. It’s the first time procrastination really has paid off!” he laughed.
