Private hearings are not unusual in the jurisdiction. The media, family members and members of the public will not be allowed to attend.

The courts service only allows for the accused to be present – along with solicitors and lawyers involved in the case.

The hearings are used to decide whether a person will get bail or be remanded in custody, and are very common for dealing with serious cases.
