MARS IRELAND HAS ordered a recall of certain products here after plastic was found in a product on the continent.
The Irish branch of the confectionery giant say that the move is merely a ‘precautionary step’.
The recall here concerns only the following products with those specific best-before dates:

These products were manufactured in the Netherlands before being distributed here.
“This is an isolated incident and only the above products manufactured in the Netherlands are impacted,” a spokesman for the company said.
No other varieties of chocolate, pack formats or bar sizes are affected in Ireland and no other best before dates or products manufactured at any other location are impacted.
Plastic found in a product could in some instances “present a choking hazard” according to the spokesman.
“To date, we have only received one consumer complaint. In Ireland, we have not received any consumer complaints.”
Customers who have purchased any of these products are urged not to consume them and to contact Mars customer care using the following details:
“Mars Ireland regrets any inconvenience caused to our consumers. We offer our consumers our sincere apologies,” the spokesman added.

A recall of Mars and Snickers bars as well as Milky Way Minis was earlier ordered in Germany and the Netherlands after plastic was found in a product.
“Mars Chocolate is carrying out a voluntary recall of chocolate products of Mars, Snickers, Milky Way and Celebrations after a bit of plastic was found in a product,” the company said in a statement on the recall in Germany.
Products with a best before date from 19 June 2016 to 8 January 2017 have been affected, it said.
The company said a full list of affected products could be found on its website www.mars.de but the site appeared to be down in the early afternoon.
“With this recall, we would like to prevent consumers who have purchased one of the above-mentioned products from consuming it,” said Mars.
The US giant’s Dutch subsidiary also issued a call-back for similar products with the same expiration dates, Dutch news agency ANP said.
The products covered by the Dutch recall were all made at a factory in Veghel, in southern Netherlands, ANP said.
