IRELAND IS SET to host a group of influential technology leaders in November as NetHope chooses Kildare as the location for its tenth annual summit.
Concern Worldwide has announced that it will present this year’s NetHope Global Member Summit at the Intel Innovation Centre in Leixlip from November 7 to 11.
NetHope is a collaboration of 33 humanitarian organisations which works to improve access to information and community technology (ICT) among its members in the developing world.
Chief information officer at Concern, Vincent Richardson says being chosen to host the event is a coup for Ireland.
“[It] underlines the fact that Concern’s commitment to the best use of technology and innovation is highly regarded internationally and our expertise in this area is recognised both by those within and outside the humanitarian development sector,” he said.
It also highlights Ireland’s position as a key player in the ICT arena. It is a good news story.”
The summit will bring together chief information officers and other technology leaders from the non-profit sector, as well as senior management from technology companies.
Attendees will include representatives from Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Accenture and Hewlett Packard. Leaders from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and USAID will also feature at the event.
The event will take place from November 7 to November 11. For more information, see www.nethope.org or www.concern.net.
