The updated Nissan X-Trail will be available with autonomous driving capability

Nissan’s flagship crossover and best-selling model worldwide finally hits our shores.

ONE OF THE world’s best-selling SUVs, the Nissan X-Trail has been given a mild refresh and is now available to buy in Ireland.

The X-Trail is a five or seven-seat crossover aimed at adventure-loving families. Both the five-seat and seven-seat versions are offered in XE, SV, SV Premium and SVE trims.

Every new Nissan X-Trail comes with six airbags as standard, plus driver assistance systems including anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution and stability control. Other standard equipment includes cruise control with speed limiter, Bluetooth connectivity, manual air-conditioning, electric folding / heated door mirrors and alloy wheels.

The two highest grades of X-Trail come with tailgate hands-free functionality. Customers with their hands full can now kick their foot under the centre of the car’s rear bumper to automatically open the boot.

From 2018, Nissan’s latest Intelligent Mobility technologies including ProPILOT autonomous drive will also be available. ProPILOT will control the car’s steering, acceleration and braking in a single lane on highways during heavy traffic congestion and high-speed cruising.

Now available for the first time, Rear Cross Traffic Alert mitigates the risk of low-speed impacts when reversing out of a parking space. If the driver attempts to reverse when an approaching vehicle is detected, the system gives visual and audible warnings.

The X-Trail is offered with three engines, a 130hp 1.6-litre diesel, a new 177hp 2.0-litre diesel and a 163hp 1.6-litre petrol. All engine can be had with a six-speed manual or CVT XTronic automatic transmission, and two or four-wheel drive.

Prices for the entry-level five-seat XE models start at €32,150 and from €36,600 for the seven-seat version. Click here to read our full review of the updated Nissan X-Trail.
