POLICE IN NEWRY are on the lookout for a car with a damaged front that rammed a police car.
Around 11:40am yesterday, it was reported that a 2006 blue Honda Accord was stolen at a car dealership in the Newry area.
Police say a man in his late 30s is described as being involved.
A man who was in the car during the incident, was removed from the vehicle at the Fiveways area.
As the vehicle left the area, it was reported that a police vehicle was struck.
An officer who was in the area at the time of the incident is also believed to have been struck as the vehicle made off towards the Old Dublin Road area.
Police say the car may have frontal damage as a result of this collision.
Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone with any information or who saw anything suspicious in the Belfast Road area shortly before 11.40am to contact police at Ardmore on 0845 600 8000.
