IN WHAT MUST be up there with the most unlikely TV double acts of all time, US President Barack Obama is set to appear alongside Bear Grylls in a new survival show.
The US president will be a guest in an upcoming episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls as he visits the state of Alaska.
NBC said the two will observe the effects of climate change in Alaska before Obama gets put through his paces.
“The two will then come together in the Alaskna wilderness,” a statement from the network said today.
President Obama will become the first US president to receive a crash course in survival techniques from Bear Grylls.
It remains to be seen exactly how much peril the two can be placed in with a full compliment of Secret Service agents in tow, but it will surely be worth watching.
It’s not like Grylls is a stranger to allegations of simulated danger anyway.
The Running Wild With Bear Grylls series has seen the survivalist take a number of other celebrities like Kate Winslet, Zac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez out into the wild.
Obama’s decision to go on the show is part of a recent initiative from his administration to put climate change centre of their agenda.
The initiative, and his focus on Alaska in particular, has led to allegations of hypocrisy given the decision to allow major oil companies start exploratory oil drilling state.
