TODAY IS THE 40th anniversary of the IRA bomb which exploded at the Houses of Parliament in London.
The bomb caused extensive damage and injured 11 people.
The IRA planted the 20lb device at the corner of Westminster Hall and gave a warning to the Press Association offices six minutes before the explosion.
The year, 1974, was when the IRA carried out a number of bombings in the UK. Other bombs went off at the Tower of London and on pubs in Guilford and Birmingham.
