A 22-MONTH-OLD girl has been taken to hospital in serious condition after being hit by a car in the Phoenix Park.
The toddler was struck by the vehicle at around 6.25 pm this evening.
In a statement, Gardaí confirmed that the incident was a hit-and-run, and that a 24-year-old man had been arrested and is currently being held at Cabra Garda station.
The two-year-old girl was taken to Temple Street Children’s Hospital, where her condition is believed to be serious.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which happened on the North Road, close to Dublin Zoo, is asked to contact Cabra Garda Station on 01 666 7400.
Correction: A previous version of this article stated that the injured child was a boy. This was based on information from the Garda Press Office, which has since been corrected.
