GARDAÍ ARE SEEKING witnesses who may have seen the car involved in yesterday’s tragic hit and run in the Phoenix Park.
In an appeal this afternoon, investigators said they are interested in hearing from anyone who saw a green Toyota Corolla being driven “erratically” in the area, and in particular, near the park’s Visitors’ Centre.
The car, with an 02 D registration, struck two year old Venessa Siatka at about 6.25pm yesterday on the North Road in the park. She was taken to Temple Street Children’s Hospital where she was treated overnight.
However this morning, gardaí confirmed the toddler was pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning.
A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody this morning.
Gardaí are still appealing for witnesses to the tragedy to contact Cabra Garda Station on 01 666 7400, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
