Ireland doesn’t use a terror alert scale like other countries.

SINCE THE TERROR attacks in Paris, the government’s line on the threat level facing Ireland has been that an attack is “possible but not likely”.

MI5 in the UK have five separate levels of threat that are colour coded. They are:

Low – an attack is unlikely.
Moderate – an attack is possible but not likely.
Substantial – an attack is a strong possibility.
Severe – an attack is highly likely.
Critical – an attack is expected imminently.

However the Department of Justice said the wording of its threat advice is based on a description of the threat assessment rather than a sliding scale.
