Poll: Should the Oireachtas inquiries referendum be re-run?

There have been hints that this may not be the last we see of this particular issue. Do you think there should be another go at it?….

YESTERDAY THE OIREACHTAS inquiries referendum was defeated after the country went to the polls. The government has expressed its disappointment and said it will “reflect and carefully consider the outcome of this referendum”.

Earlier yesterday Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin hinted in an interview that if the Oireachtas Committee Constitutional amendment was defeated, it might not be the end of it.

While he didn’t indicate if there would be a return to the amendment for a second time, Howlin said that the government would have to “think again about how we’re going to get our reform agenda back on track”. Meanwhile Justice Minister Alan Shatter suggested yesterday that the ‘No’ votes may have been a result of a lack of information or debate about the issue.

So, what do you think? Should the referendum be re-run?

Poll Results:
