Prisoner spent two hours on roof of Cloverhill today after retrieving drugs

It comes after inmates formed a pyramid to help a prisoner get on the roof of Mountjoy prison earlier this month.

A PRISONER SPENT two hours on the roof of Cloverhill Prison today after climbing up to retrieve drugs.

The Irish Prison Service says it is now investigating how the inmate managed to get onto the roof.

The Director General of the Prison Service, Michael Donnellan said he would like to commend the staff involved for the professionalism and speed with which the situation was resolved

Staff removed the inmate at around 6pm this evening.

It’s understood the man was then released on bail after a family member came to the prison and paid the bail.

It comes after inmates formed a pyramid to help a prisoner reach drugs on the roof of Mountjoy prison earlier this month.
