Radio saves policeman's life by catching bullet

A gunman opened fire on the policeman in London, but the bullet became lodged in the officer’s radio. One man was shot dead during the incident.

A POLICEMAN IN London escaped with his life after a gunman opened fire on him and the bullet became lodged in his radio.

The incident took place in Tottenham Hale in North London yesterday evening. A local man was shot dead by police during the planned operation.

Twenty-nine-year old  Mark Duggan was travelling in a cab when it was stopped by police. BBC reports that three shots were fired, one of which came from inside the cab.

A bullet was later found lodged in a policeman’s radio. One officer was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

The Telegraph reports that the dead man was known to police and that he had been under surveillance. A witness has said that they heard police ask Duggan several times to stop what he was doing.

An investigation has been launched by the police watchdog, according to The Guardian.
