A MAN HAS died following a road accident in Carlow yesterday evening.
The incident took place just outside Carlow town on the R448 road to Castledermot when the 29-year-old man, who was a pedestrian, was hit by a car at around 7.20pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital for a forensic examination.
The male driver of the car, who was the sole occupant, was not injured.
A section of the road has been closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation and diversions are in place.
The road is expected to re-open sometime later this morning, according to gardaí.
They have appealed for any witnesses to the incident, particularly those who may have travelled along that road, to contact Carlow Garda station on 059 913 6620, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
