Ryanair thinks its new friendly approach is working

Passenger figures for last month show an increase of 4% compared to the same time last year.

MORE THAN NINE million passengers flew with Ryanair last month, according to figures released this morning.

This represents an increase of 4% from June, when 8.84 million flew with the airline.

Annual load factor also increased by 3%.

Kenny Jacobs, the airline’s chief marketing officer, put this down to a recently rebranded website and new app, and a general ‘improvement in customer experience’.

The figures today also highlight that 83 million passengers have flown with Ryanair since this time last year, another increase of 4%.

A report last month said that net profits rose to 152%.

However, airline boss Michael O’Leary warned against getting too excited about this strong growth.

“We would strongly caution both analysts and investors against any irrational exuberance in what continues to be a difficult economic environment, with some company-specific challenges in H2,” he said.

Easyjet also published its statistics for July this morning, showing a 7.7% rise in passenger numbers compared to this time last year.

Its rolling annual traffic rose 5.9% to just less than 64.8 million passengers.
