A GANG HAS ROBBED €170,000 in cash after abducting the wife of a security company director last night, RTÉ reports.

A group of at least three masked men armed with handguns entered the couple’s home in Monsterboice, Co Louth, at around 9pm last night and held them overnight.

RTÉ’s crime correspondent said the woman was taken away in her silver Merc at around 6am today, while the man was ordered to go to the Brinks Allied depot in Clonsaugh to get money.

He then left his jeep with €170,000 in cash at Thatch Road, Whitehall, Dublin. The car was later discovered burned out in Ashbourne, Co Meath.

Gardaí found his wife tied up at a derelict house on the Howth Road in Dublin, where her car had been set alight. They are appealing for any information regarding the incident.
