Man and woman shot outside Limerick house

The pair are being treated in hospital.

A MAN AND a woman have been shot outside a house in Co Limerick.

The incident happened at around 3.30 pm this afternoon at a house in Castleview estate in Newcastle West.

A lone gunman approached the two and and shot them, before fleeing the scene in a car which is believed to have been driven by a second male.

The male victim was airlifted to Cork University Hospital, while the female was brought to University Hospital Limerick.

The pair, both aged in their early 30s, are both said to have non-life threatening injuries.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and an investigation is ongoing.

Gardaí are urging witnesses to call  Newcastle West Garda station on 069-20650, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800-666-111 or to contact any Garda Station.
