A MAN HAS died and a woman has been injured following a knife attack at a house in Ballymena in the early hours of this morning.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
The 64-year-old man was attacked at a house in the Carnvale area of Ballymena in Co Antrim during the early hours of this morning while a 59-year-old woman was hospitalised with serious stab wounds.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) say that her condition is described as serious.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and is currently in custody, assisting police with the enquiries.
The PSNI says that its investigation is ongoing.
In a separate Antrim incident, police in Coleraine are investigating a shooting in Linenhall Street area of Ballymoney last night. At around 10pm a 31-year-old man was approached by another man and shot in the leg.
The injured man has been hospitalised and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The suspected firearm used in the attack was recovered and will be subject to a forensic examination.
