TAOISEACH ENDA KENNY was canvassing for votes for Fine Gael in the Meath East by-election just hours after flying home from his trip to the United States for St Patrick’s Day.
A bleary-eyed Kenny was out with Fine Gael candidate Helen McEntee as she looks to retain her late father Shane’s seat.
The senior coalition party faces strong competition from Fianna Fáil’s Thomas Byrne with Labour’s Eoin Holmes and Sinn Féin’s Darren O’Rourke also in the running.
The Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore was also in the constituency today as was Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams as the parties make the last push for votes ahead of polling day on Wednesday.

In addition there are four non-party candidates including Charlie Keddy, JimTallon, Mick Martin and Gerard O’Brien.
