14-year-old girl killed and baby injured in Kerry car crash

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Scartaglen last night.

A 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL has died in a car crash in Kerry.

The teenager was the front seat passenger in a car which left the road and crashed into a ditch near Scartaglen at approximately 11.25pm last night. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 20-year-old female driver and an 18-month-old baby girl who was also in the car were taken to Tralee General Hospital to be treated for their injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardaí at Castleisland are investigating the cause of the crash and the road has been closed to allow for forensic investigators to examine the scene.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to contact Castleisland garda station on 066 716 3090.
