    Taoiseach Brian Cowen faced questions over a golf and dinner outing with ex-Anglo boss Sean FitzPatrick two months before the State guaranteed the banks in 2008.
  • Face of Hope, lost.

    The small coffin of Christina Taylor-Green is watched over by her family. The 9-year-old girl - who was born on 9/11 - died in the mass shooting at a neighbourhood meet and greet of Democrat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona last Saturday.

    Boots chemists announced they will supply the morning-after pill to Irish customers without need for a doctor's prescription. The move was hailed as a progressive step by many - but some Catholic commentators were less than pleased.
  • Emergency in Tunisia

    Weeks of unrest in Tunisia came to complete crisis today as the government were sacked, the president left the country and tear gas was released at protestors.
  • RIP Michaela

    The killing of Michaela Harte on her honeymoon on Mauritius left the country reeling. Three hotel workers have been charged in relation to her death. She and footballer John McAreavey had been married on December 30 - Michaela's funeral will be held in the same church on Monday morning.

    Two residents of Teresolpolis in Brazil look at where their town was submerged under mud and floods after heavy rains killed at least 479 people in Brazil.
