Man in his 90s injured after two men break into Tipperary house

The man’s wife, who is in her 80s, was not injured during the incident.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING an aggravated burglary in Co Tipperary in which a man in his 90s was injured last night.

Two men broke into a house on Old Dublin Road, Roscrea through a side window at around 11.40pm.

The elderly man, suffering from head injuries, was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise by ambulance. His wife, who is in her 80s, was not injured.

A quantity of cash was stolen from the house.

The scene of the incident was preserved for a forensic examination and the investigation is ongoing.
