Donald Trump offered rival he called a "needy child" and a "disgusting eater" Vice President spot

Last month the New York Times reported that Donald Trump Jr had made contact with an aide of Kasich’s to float the deal.

JOHN KASICH, THE Ohio governor and former candidate for the Republican US Presidential nomination, has confirmed he turned down the chance to be Donald Trump’s Vice President.

Last month the New York Times reported that Donald Trump Jr had made contact with an aide of Kasich’s to float the deal.

The Times’ report said that Kasich had been offered the chance to become the most powerful Vice President ever.

He had been offered, the paper said, the chance to “be in charge of foreign and domestic policy”.

Kasich said in a CNN interview today that while he was never contacted directly but that one of his aides received the call from Donald Trump Jr and that the Times’ account of the conversation was accurate.

A former Trump rival in the primaries who has yet to endorse the Republican candidate, Kasich said he “never considered” the running mate option.

“I’d be the worst vice president,” he said. “I have too many opinions.”

The Trump campaign ultimately chose Indiana Governor Mike Pence.

Kasich declined to attend the Republican National Convention — which was held in his own battleground state Ohio — saying that it would have been “inappropriate” to attend without endorsing Trump.

“I wish that I could be fully enthusiastic. I can’t be,” Kasich said, declining to say who he planned to vote for in November.

Trump and Kasich’s rivalry had been bitter throughout the nomination battle, as Kasich teamed up with Ted Cruz to attempt to thwart the billionaire businessman.

Trump took aim at Kasich calling him a “needy child” and poking fun at the way he eats.

Did you see him? He had a news conference all the time when he’s eating. I have never see a human being eat in such a disgusting fashion.

“It’s disgusting,” he later said. “Do you want this guy for your president?”
