United Airlines computer glitch leaves thousands stranded

The American airline blamed “a network connectivity issue” for the outage which left passengers stranded at airports across the US.

THOUSANDS OF US AIR passengers were left stranded last night when the computer system of United Airlines went down.

Today, the airline said the problem was caused by “a network connectivity issue” and that it was working to resume normal operations. Although United Airlines is rebooking passengers as required, some people are likely to be affected throughout the weekend.

The airline apologised to its passengers for the glitch, which it says affected its departures, airport processing, reservations and its website. It says it doesn’t know exactly how many flights and passengers have been affected.

Anyone whose flight has been affected by the problem is able to cancel or rebook their flights without paying extra fees.
