VIDEO: How burglars crack a front door lock

The average front door lock can be breached in as little as nine seconds by an experienced burglar. This video from UK company Ultion, who provide locks to Fairco, shows just how easy it can be.

Fairco’s Ultion locks meet the highest TS007 standard.

The first thing a burglar will try to do to gain entry through a front door is snap the lock by gripping the outside part with a pliers and literally snapping the barrel. Failing this, the burglar will take up an electric drill and simply bore right through the lock to the depth of the key and then turn with a screwdriver.

Neither method is available to the burglar when faced with a Fairco door, which features the most up-to-date anti-drill security barrels on the market that are impossible to grip.

One of the most popular methods for breaching a front door is to ‘bump’ the lock. This involves inserting an adapted key into the lock and then hitting it with a heavy hammer. Fairco have eliminated this option for burglars by only using anti-pick locks that cannot be bumped.
