winter is coming

It's going to be a cold and rainy weekend with frosty conditions forecast

Temperatures will drop to as low as six degrees Celcius.

WINTER WEATHER IS on the horizon as the weekend is set to see frosty conditions across the country.

Tomorrow will be a relatively calm but cloudy day, with a few brighter spells on occasions. Most areas will remain dry throughout the day, but outbreaks of rain are expected in the northwest and west during the late afternoon and evening.

There will be maximum temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.

Colder, frosty conditions will begin to spread in across the country tomorrow night.

Met Éireann says heavy showers are expected in the western and northern areas, with temperatures dropping to between three to six degrees, along with some grass frost.

The cold conditions will persist on Saturday, with occasional heavy rain and hail showers in western and northern counties.

There will be a risk of some thundery downpours and blustery winds along at Atlantic coast.

While Sunday is expected to be a drier and brighter day, some scattered showers are forecast for the morning.

Temperatures will remain cool at seven to 10 degrees, with a moderate northwesterly breeze.

Sunday night will be frosty with rain in the west and northwest areas.
