Cars iced over in Dublin this morning
Ice Ice Baby

Driving today? Be careful, it's very icy out

Met Éireann has issued a warning because it’s so cold.

MET ÉIREANN HAS issued a yellow low temperature warning for this morning, with freezing cold weather already here.

Temperatures across the country will dip as low as -7 Celcius today. That means ice on the roads, with motorists being urged to take care today.

Dublin City Council says that with many people still off for the holidays, traffic is quiet, but those who are heading to work, the sales or out visiting today should take care, slow down and keep a further distance from the car in front.

Motorists are also being asked to leave extra travelling time to ensure that they can de-ice their cars.

In Waterford, Kilkenny and The Curragh in Kildare, there are patches of dense fog being reported. Motorists there should use their fog lights, but remember to turn them off once they’ve cleared the fog.

Met Éireann says that the temperatures should climb to around seven degrees today, but will drop to freezing overnight.
