WHATSAPP IS STEPPING up its game, rolling out voicecalls to rival the likes of Skype and Viber.
The messaging app, recently snapped up by Facebook last year for billions, rolled out the new feature on Android earlier this month and received largely positive reviews.
TechRadar said they ‘never wanted to go back to making regular calls’
Now, this update has started arriving on Apple devices.
While the app now supports voice calls, the function is being rolled out gradually, so you might not be able to place a call just yet.
You’ll see this update appearing in the App Store:
The app will work in a similar way to the standard Phone app. You’ll be able to see a list of missed, incoming, and outgoing calls. You can also send a message to the person you are speaking to.
The messaging app has gone from strength to strength. New figures published yesterday show it grew by another 100 million users so far in 2015, and is now used by a total of 800 million unique individuals all over the world each month.
A total of 30 billion messages are sent on the app everyday.
