A WOMAN IN her 50s has been arrested in connection with a house fire in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, which claimed the life of a five-year-old girl nine days ago.
The woman was arrested this morning and is being detained at Boyle Garda Station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
A man in his 30s also remains in custody.
Gardaí investigating the fire believe it was started maliciously and this is the fourth arrest since the probe began. A man and a woman were released without charge after being questioned about the October 3 incident.
Five-year-old Mari Connolly was killed in the fire, which was discovered at the house on Termon Road between 2:30am and 3am on Monday morning of last week.
Mari was buried following a funeral service in Boyle yesterday. Her two older sisters Lauren and Naomi, aged six and eight, survived the fire, along with their father Richard.
