Man and woman due in court after serious assault in Tallaght

A 20-year-old man is in critical condition following the attack in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

TWO PEOPLE IN their 20s are due to appear in court this morning charged in connection with a serious assault in Dublin in the early hours of New Year’s Day which left a man in critical condition.

The man and the woman, aged 23 and 20 respectively, will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice over the attack on a man which happened near The Square in Tallaght at around 4am on 1 January.

The victim – a 20-year-old man – suffered serious injuries in the assault and is in critical condition. He was initially brought to Tallaght Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses who were around The Square from around 2am onwards on the night in question, or anyone with any information, to contact them at 01 – 666 6000 or on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

A 20-year-old man was also arrested last night in connection with the attack and is being questioned in Tallaght Garda Station.
