Woman in her 70s remains in critical condition after Ballyfermot stabbing

Two men were seen running from the scene.

A WOMAN IN her 70s remains in a critical condition in hospital today after being stabbed at her Dublin home yesterday.

Gardaí are still trying to establish a motive for the stabbing of the 72-year-old, named locally as Bridie Smith, but do not believe it is linked to a robbery.

Sources indicate they are investigating whether it is linked to a local argument.

The woman was stabbed on her doorstep early yesterday morning, being rushed to St James’s Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

The incident took place on Oranmore Road in Ballyfermot at 9.30am. Two men were seen running from the scene.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station on 01 666 7200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
