A 16-YEAR-OLD boy in State care, who has been charged with raping a teenage girl the same age as him, has been granted continued bail.
The teenager has been charged with two counts of rape – which allegedly occurred in February last year.
The incident allegedly took place at the historic Croppies Acre Memorial Park at Wolfe Tone Quay.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was remanded on bail in February.
He appeared at Dublin’s Children Court today where it was agreed that his bail will now continue on the same terms.
The judge outlined that he must have no contact with the complainant, directly or indirectly.
The judge asked if the accused understood what this meant and explained that indirectly meant calling, texts and contact through Facebook or any social media.
The DPP has previously directed that the case should be heard in the Central Criminal Court but no date has yet been set.
