Gardaí appeal for witnesses after man killed in Limerick crash

A man in his 50s died after two cars collided at Coole West, Athea.

GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED a fresh appeal for information following a fatal crash in Co Limerick on Saturday evening.

A man in his 50s was fatally injured when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with another car on the R524 at Coole West, Athea, near Newcastle West.

The crash happened at around 9.30pm and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second car was uninjured.

The man’s body was later removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem, and the local Coroner was notified.

Investigating gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward. According to a statement, they are particularly keen to speak to witnesses who may have left scene of the collision before talking to gardaí.
