EU 2013 budget talks break down

TALK BETWEEN European Union governments and the parliament to agree on a 2013 budget broke down on Friday, said Alain Lamassoure, who heads the European Parliament’s budget committee.

The budget needs to be agreed between the 27 EU states and the parliament but Lamassoure said: “The council (of ministers) were unable to negotiate so the negotiations were suspended.”

Minister of State Brian Hayes was in Brussels today to meet with EU finance ministers about the forthcoming budget for the bloc – and had underlined the importance of ministers reaching a conclusion on the matter today.

Look at this stage the damage is done, just pull the sticks out and get it over with. You’re handing the markets excuses to show lack of confidence.

Every bloody year we’re being driven deeper and deeper into our pockets and deeper into depression over bureaucratic nonsense because the EU can’t get along. I can’t understand those who favour further integration when we’re still being pushed to fiscal extremes and we still can agree on solutions.

Don’t feed the beast.

The EU wants a bigger budget while whittling national budgets away. Austerity is only for others obviously, meanwhile pass the fois gras there Henri.

This is a good thing. The last thing we need right now is to have no control over our own budget. It is really idiotic to think everyone will be happy, someone is going to kick up a fuss. I can guarantee you it’s not our representative there. Kudos to which ever country is putting a foot down.

  Britain has reached a tipping point which as they see it as the eu has far too much control over its( britains) domestic affairs and their politicians are now begining to face up to their responsibities to their own electorate.and remember that for the last decade at least the accounts for the eu has not been signed off by any auditor because of the widespread misuse of the funds.
  as our own politicians remain cowering in the corner like some frightened child at least someone even if it is politicians from another country are standing up to these money grabbing cockroaches that have bled not just the Irish people but the common,everyday working class within the 27 DIFFERENT nations in th eu
