THIS WEEK WE are checking out a handy gadget for keeping you well fed on your commute or those long distance drives. Talk about meals on wheels.
What is it?
It is a 12-Volt Portable Stove (€74) and it will make sure you never go hungry while driving again. It looks like a metal toolbox and it has a lighter-type plug, which you plug into any 12V socket in your car or mobile home. It has a handle and a lock so it won’t spill open unexpectedly (argh).
What does it do?
The name stove is a bit misleading as it won’t cook any food from raw – but what it will do is reheat ready meals or leftovers. You plug it in and it slowly heats up and warms to roughly 150 degrees Celsius.
It is well sealed so your vehicle won’t smell of food, unless you eat the food in the car! And you can even put frozen food in there too, as long as it has been pre-cooked – mini pizzas, veg, pasties and pies are all up for grabs.

Why would I want it?
If you spend a lot of time on the road and want to cut down on service station food you can easily bring home cooked meals and reheat them and enjoy them anytime you want. No more garage sambos. Think of all the calories and money you could save!
