In pics: How you spent St Patrick’s Day from Auckland to Dingle

We asked you what you did for Patrick’s Day – and here’s what you told us.

WE ASKED, AND you told us.

Earlier today, we said on Facebook and Twitter that we wanted to know what you did for Patrick’s Day. Did you spend it at a parade? In the pub? Did you get dressed up? Did you meet old friends? New ones?

We received some great photographs – a lot of which, frankly looked a lot more interesting than how we spent Patrick’s Day – so we’ve put together a slideshow.

Take a look:

  • Patrick's Day

Ciaran Lowney sent us this pic of the parade in Auckland, New Zealand (probably the warmest-looking Patrick's Day we've ever seen in our lives). He's holding his 4-year-old son Sean who is going to visit Ireland for the first time this June. Aw.
  • Patrick's Day

Pier Kuipers in Dublin met these two women on Stephen's Green just after the parade. That's some pretty impressive dedication to Patrick's Day.
  • Patrick's Day

Doing all these parades can be thirsty work. Our editor Susan Daly spotted St Patrick making a well-deserved pit stop in Dingle.
  • Patrick's Day

Looks like an average Irish pub - but it's actually that Rí Rá Irish pub in Burlington, Vermont in the US. Cheers to Declan Noonan for the pic.
  • Patrick's Day

Ross Duggan (@duggan) sent us this pic of a healthy nutritious Patrick's Day breakfast. Looks like a long day ahead...
  • Patrick's Day

Ross also somehow managed to find a pub in San Francisco showing the Ireland-England rugby match. That's impressive. Although given the scoreline, maybe not so much.
  • Patrick's Day

Susan also spotted this septic tank protest at the parade in Dingle. The sign on the back of the truck is possibly our favourite thing of the day so far. It says: "Cac saor sna bailte, cac daor faoin dtuath" (roughly: Crap for free in the towns, crap at an expensive cost in the country).
  • Patrick's Day

And another view of the septic tank protest in Dingle, thanks to Susan.
  • Patrick's Day

Richard Fahey (@faheyr) spotted this septic tank protest er, float at another parade.
  • Patrick's Day

An anonymous person sent us this photo of a panda dressed as a leprechaun in Ballyheigue, Co. Kerry. We especially like that the panda has even gone to the effort of wearing a fake beard for the day.
  • Patrick's Day

Brian Fallon spotted these people in urgent need of help on the streets of NYC
  • Patrick's Day

Aaron sent us this photo of the celebration at a square in Tel Aviv in Israel (with plenty of obligatory leprechaun hats)
  • Patrick's Day

Aaron also sent us this group shot of what looks like a cold (but very green) Patrick's Day in Tel Aviv.
  • Patrick's Day

Because you're never too young to celebrate Patrick's Day... Someone who didn't leave their name sent us this photo of a young reveller in Keel, Ballyheigue, Co. Kerry. Aw.
  • Patrick's Day

It wasn't all fun and games on Patrick's Day - some people had to work. Boo. But the staff at DAA landside operations in Dublin Airport still made the effort for the day.
  • Patrick's Day

Lindy Wilson sent this pic celebrating Patrick's Day in Osaka, Japan - who knew they even celebrated it that far away?
  • Patrick's Day

Irene Barr took this picture of Senator Mary Moran and her son Cillian at the parade in Dundalk.
  • Patrick's Day

Protests seemed to be a common thing at parades this year. @Rack_Elle spotted this household tax protest in the Limerick parade.
  • Patrick's Day

Tim O'Hagan is in Somerset but he sent us this picture of a couple (or more) Guinness cans to remind him of home. Hope you enjoyed the day, Tim!
